| Lost Mail |
Of all the sins an ISP can commit, losing mail is the worst. Customers will bitch about slow web, poor news propagation, disconnections, late mail and so on - but they won't put up with an ISP that actually loses their e-mails.
So ISPs tend to panic, drop everything, fix the problem and apologise profusely if they are unlucky enough to suffer such a disaster.
BTi, on the other hand, are likely to deny that mail is ever lost (whatever may be happening behind the scenes). The following response, however, takes the biscuit...

I'm now convinced that BTI "loses" mails.
I'm normally the kind of bloke that accepts there'll be problems now & again but I never EVER expected this "service" when I signed up. I have to really, really bite my tongue to work out if the saving on my phone bill was worth all this hassle with poor connections, Bad IP's, mail & news servers CONSTANTLY having problems. Reading a single 1k post in a newsgroup takes what seems like an eternity to d/load, surely this "should" be almost instantaneous?)
(Note to BTI: Did you realise that there has been a fault post in announce for nearly EVERY day for the past 2 months??!!??...What the HELL are you running here?..an ISP or a Mickey Mouse Factory?)
Just for the sheer hell of it I tried the following: Yesterday afternoon I sent, from my work PC, 2 mails, 1 to my BTI address and the other to my existing FreeUK address.
On arriving home from work and connecting to BTI the mail addresses to the FreeUK account downloaded immediately but still...even the next day, the BTI mail still hasn't turned up, even webmail shows I have no mail. I wonder how many other mails...
Support??...I'm VERY interested to hear your comments on this, my subscribtion to this pathetic, lame excuse for an ISP hangs in the balance here.
(If only FreeUK would go 0800...I'd be back there like a shot - In 2 years at FreeUK I NEVER had a poor connection, NEVER had trouble with their mail or news servers and NEVER had to question their support team.)
And just to put a total damper on things, if I'm not satisfied with your answer, can I email Billing to cancel my account ?...(that's assuming your mail server is working in the first place)
