BTi have a slightly peculiar approach to usenet porn, designed to ensure that BTi subscribers can view it only if they have already been corrupted by another ISP's uncensored newsfeed.
The following thread appeared in the newsgroup btinternet.support in January 1998.

Why arn't ALL the newsgroups listed? If you search for, erotic, just as an example, it lists about 2, but if you know the name of some of the groups, and just type it in, it will list the group. Why?

Trying to pluck up my courage, I buy a newspaper...then some wine gums...then a Radio Times...then some softmints...then a book of stamps...
The kindly newsagent, noticing my growing embarrassment, asks, with a twinkle in his eye, "Something for the weekend, Sir?"
"Computer Shopper and PC Gamer," I whisper, blushing furiously. At least, thank God, I wasn't served by the ravishing 19 year-old computer science student who works there during the vacations...

That's when the large inside pockets of our anoracks are a godsend ;)
Of course I'm joking... but I *do* sometimes wish I had an anorak. I'd like one that folded up small enough to fit into my pencil case...

We operate a 'Top Shelf' policy on the newsgroups. If the newsgroup is of an adult nature and is unsuitable for children (for example) we will carry the group, but you must know the name of it to get it. If the content of a group is illegal then we do not carry it.

That's really more of an "under the counter" policy.
